News from the European Union

The European Union is moving to include geologic sequestration in the EU Emissions Trading system.  Recently, a draft Directive was approved by the European Commission, along with an accompanying analysis and Q&A.   The draft Directive sets out the conditions under which geological sequestration will qualify as an emissions reduction that will be able to be monetized through the EU Emissions Trading System.
